More from the adventures of Tom Bear...

This weekend I received more photographs from Tom Bear! I wonder what he is  up to? I am sure he will be back soon.

Next week our blog word of the week will  be Christmas Magic.  Get your thinking caps on everyone. We are going to write some special letters to Santa next week. Have a good weekend!

Don't forget Digit Day on Tuesday!

On Tuesday you can come to school dressed as a digit - do you have a t-shirt or jumper with a number on it? You can wear this to school on Tuesday - or feel free to be more creative - what does number 7 look like to you?

Next week our blog word will be Ho! Ho! Ho!

Doubles, doubles everywhere...
This week we have been learning to double numbers to ten. In the Learning Links section of this blog (down the right hand side of this page) there is a link to a website called Topmarks Education. Clicking on this link will take you to the Topmarks website. Here you can search for 'doubles' and you will be given a list of online games to choose from to practice doubling numbers. I particularly like In The Box.  Have a go and let me know which game is your favourite.

Where is Tom Bear?
Many of you may be aware that our Class bear Tom went missing this week. He keeps sending photographs of his adventures! I wonder where he has been this weekend... These photographs were delivered to my house today! Where is Tom Bear?

I am sure he will be back to school soon. Our blog word of the week next week will be Tom Bear. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Friday 15 November 2013

What a busy week! Thank you to all parent's and carers who came to Parent's Evening. It was lovely to finally meet all of you and get to know a little more about your children.

We have had a busy day today in Year One. The author Stuart Reid came to visit and told us about his 3 new books.

If you would like to know more about Stuart then see the link to his website in the Learning Links section down the right hand side of the blog page.

Today was also Children in Need day. We paid money to come to school dressed in our Pyjama's. In the afternoon the children had fun making Pudsey masks, colouring pictures of Pudsey and writing stories about Pudsey.

If you are coming to help begin digging our community allotment tomorrow then I shall see you then. If  not then have a great weekend! Next week our blog word will be Picnic.

Monday 4 November 2013

Today was a very special day for the children in Year One. Can you guess where we went?

We visited Build a Bear Workshop! The children had a chance to choose a new pet Teddy for our classroom. We were all given a heart and we had to kiss it and make a wish. Each of the hearts was then put inside of our special bear.

Next we were able to stuff the bear. The children wanted our bear to be nice and cuddly.

Then we had to decide if the bear would be a boy or girl. It was a unanimous decision - he is a boy! Choosing the outfit for him was so much fun!

And here he is - Tom the Teddy! Doesn't he have cool shoes and don't you just love his hat? Can you spot who is on his T-shirt?

Tomorrow the children will write thank you letters to the staff at Build a Bear  - they were wonderful! Next week the children are going to make their very own bear puppets. If you like to sew and would like to come and help us to support the children in developing their sewing skills, then please let me know when you are free to come into school.

Wednesday 30 October 2013

I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday! On the last day of term we all dressed up in our Halloween costumes - don't they look a scary bunch? This was the culmination of a week of work about the senses and poetry. The children were asked to write a poem entitled Halloween is...

I was unable to scan all of the writing for various reasons but I thought you might still like to see the scary costumes.

REMINDER

On Monday 4th we will be visiting Build a Bear workshop. Just a reminder that children need to wear school uniform and we will be back to school for lunch as normal. Next week our blog word of the week will be Teddy Bear. Enjoy the rest of your holidays and Happy Halloween!!!!
