Happy New Year!!! I apologise that I have not written on the blog recently - isn't Christmas a busy time of year! Next week the blog word of the week will be - Happy New Year. If you tell me the word then you earn a house point and a fuzzy in the bucket for taking the time to read the blog. This term we will be learning about Houses and Homes. In the second week back (beginning 13th January) we will be having a walk around the local area to look at the different kinds of homes. We will probably do this on the Tuesday of that week and we will leave school at 1:10pm and return to school for around 2:00 - 2:15pm. We need 2 volunteers to come on this walk. If you are free to accompany us please let me know next week. Please keep checking the block this term for more photo's and information about what is happening in our classroom.
Happy New Year!

Don't forget Digit Day on Tuesday!

On Tuesday you can come to school dressed as a digit - do you have a t-shirt or jumper with a number on it? You can wear this to school on Tuesday - or feel free to be more creative - what does number 7 look like to you?

Next week our blog word will be Ho! Ho! Ho!

Doubles, doubles everywhere...
This week we have been learning to double numbers to ten. In the Learning Links section of this blog (down the right hand side of this page) there is a link to a website called Topmarks Education. Clicking on this link will take you to the Topmarks website. Here you can search for 'doubles' and you will be given a list of online games to choose from to practice doubling numbers. I particularly like In The Box.  Have a go and let me know which game is your favourite.

What a busy week! Thank you to all parent's and carers who came to Parent's Evening. It was lovely to finally meet all of you and get to know a little more about your children.

We have had a busy day today in Year One. The author Stuart Reid came to visit and told us about his 3 new books.

If you would like to know more about Stuart then see the link to his website in the Learning Links section down the right hand side of the blog page.

Today was also Children in Need day. We paid money to come to school dressed in our Pyjama's. In the afternoon the children had fun making Pudsey masks, colouring pictures of Pudsey and writing stories about Pudsey.

If you are coming to help begin digging our community allotment tomorrow then I shall see you then. If  not then have a great weekend! Next week our blog word will be Picnic.
